Stillings, Harold Gene -

Murfreesboro - Funeral services for Mr. Harold Gene Stillings, age 74, of Manchester will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2020, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jon Amspaugh officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service, at the funeral home on Friday. Mr. Stillings passed from this life on Friday, July 3, 2020, at the VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN.
Gene was born on October 12, 1945, in London, KY, the son of the late Felix and Viola Stillings. He was a United States Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War and attended the Manchester First Church of the Nazarene. Gene was a charter member of the CCVA, original plank owner of the USS America, and the 5th District Executive Committee person for the State of TN DAV
Gene was a member of the DAV, The American Legions, and the Manchester Jaycees. He was a former Manchester City Alderman, Recycling Engineer for Arnold Air Force Base, and mechanic for the Florida Department of Forestry. Also, during Gene’s lifetime, he was the Coffee County Veteran Service Officer, worked for TDOT for 13 years, was a firefighter for the Orlo Vista Fire Department, and a volunteer firefighter for the Kissimmee Heights Fire Department.
In Gene’s spare time, he loved fishing, watching TN Vols and TN Titans Football games, playing on the computer, and going to auctions with his best friend, Joe Sanders. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
In addition to his parents, Gene is also preceded in death by his sister, Marge Bales. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret Thornton Stillings; two sons, Jamie and Daniel Stillings; one brother, Dennis Stillings (Jewell); five sisters, LaVerne Del Preore (Andy), Linda Sanders (Carl), Diane Stillings, Sondra Largent, and Carol McCormick (Jim Sykes); one granddaughter, Destinee Stillings; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Coffee County Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Stillings family.
