Tullahoma - Memorial services for Rickey Wayne Peek, age 52 of Tullahoma will be conducted Monday, November 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma with Reverend Jon Bell and Reverend Jim Beaty officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 AM until time of services at 2:00 PM at the church. Mr. Peek passed away Friday, November 7, 2008 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was born July 26, 1956 in Coffee County, TN the son of Mrs. Ruth Haggard Peek and the late George Peek. Rickey graduated from Coffee County Central High School in 1974 and Nashville State Technical Institute in 1978. Following graduation, he moved to Tullahoma and was employed as the Data Processing Manager for Precision International, now Cubic Corp. In 1987, Rickey took over Shelter Insurance Agency. During his career, he earned the designation of LUTCF, Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow. He served this community as the Shelter Insurance agent until his death on Friday. Rickey was extremely dedicated to the Tullahoma Downtown Lion€™s Club where he served as President in 2005. He also received the Melvin Jones Award, the Lion of the Decade Award and was instrumental in coordinating the Annual €œBig Daddy Bob Richardson Memorial Golf Tournament€? where he served as Co-Director for many years. Over the years, he has coached in the Tullahoma Little League, Tullahoma Babe Ruth, Tullahoma Girl€™s Softball League and East Middle School girl€™s basketball. Rickey was a passionate outdoorsman who loved the lake, beach, hiking and golfing, but most of all loved his family and friends. In addition to his mother, Ruth, he is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Dian Peek of Tullahoma, daughter, Katie Peek and fiancée, Josh Smith both of Murfreesboro and son, Hunter Peek of Tullahoma; brothers and sisters, Brenda (Larry) Vickers of Nashville, Winfred (Phyllis) Peek of Manchester and Gale Scivally of Tullahoma, mother-in-law, Aileen Burnett Lane of Tullahoma and numerous nieces, nephews. In lieu of flowers, the Peek family suggests memorial donations be made to the Rickey Peek Memorial Scholarship Fund at Tullahoma High School.
