Manchester - Funeral services for Rev. James Holt, age 93 of Manchester, will be conducted Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 3:30 PM with Bro. James Growden officiating services at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Rev. Holt passed away Friday, February 18, 2011.
Rev. James Holt was born April 10, 1917 in Weakly County, TN to the late Jim and Della Mae Abernathy Holt. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was a Mason with Lodge #7172 in Fulton, KY and was a member of the American Legion in Mayfield, KY. He served as a Baptist Minister for years having ministered at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Dukedom, TN, Adam Chapel Baptist Church in Dresdon, TN, New Salem Baptist Church in Palmersville, TN, Crutchfield Baptist Church in KY, Johnson Grove and McConnell Baptist Church, both in South Fulton, TN. He also served as a missionary for Campsite in Reel Foot Lake, KY. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church for 25 years where he also taught men’s Sunday School.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mable Holt and one grandchild, Libby Long.His survivors include daughter, Sandra (Bill) Long of Manchester; son, Charles (Carmen) Holt of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Denise Ballard, Melissa Sartain, Chuck and Chris Holt; and four great-grandchildren.
