Manchester - Funeral services for Rev. Canon Vincent E. “Gene” Foreman, age 82 of Manchester will be conducted Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bishop David Epps, Rev. Fr. Mitchell Baker and Pastor Jim Slayton officiating. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 5:00-9:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 Noon until time of services at the funeral home. Fr. Foreman passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN.
He was born October 21, 1928 in Watonga, OK the son of the late Stonewall Jackson “Jack” Foreman and Alvina Funk Foreman. In early years, he entered into the U.S. Marines Corp where he served during WWII. Following his service duty, he was employed at AEDC where he worked for forty years. Gene had an avid love for aviation all his life and was a pilot. He was also employed with The Boeing Company in Huntsville, AL for several years from which he retired. Gene’s third career lead him down a different path. He was called to the ministry and attended St. Michael’s Seminary in Chattanooga. He was ordained as a priest, November 10, 2000. He served at St. Andrew’s Charismatic Episcopal Church in Coffee County beginning in 1998 and devoted much of his later life to the priesthood and ministry. Fr. Gene served in many ways to include the Hispanic Mission of Coffee County and also the jail ministry in Warren County. Other hobbies include restoring old airplanes, drafting and designing buildings and a dear love for animals.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Mary Catherine Foreman of Manchester; children, Paul Foreman and wife, Katie of Oak Grove, AL, Michael Foreman and wife, Ann of Elizabethton, TN, Becky Jenkins and husband, Jeff of Tampa, FL and Steven Foreman and wife, Julie of Tullahoma, TN; step-children, David Bouldin and wife, Jackie of Allen, TX, Keith Bouldin and wife, Kathy of McMinnville, TN and Cathy Walker of Cookeville, TN; nine grandchildren, Abbey, Christopher, John, David, Rachel, Andrea, Lauren, Aaron, and Reynolds; seven great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
