Manchester - Services for Mr. Larry Wayne Parr, age 63 of Manchester will be conducted 11:00AM Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Reverend Tim Hastings officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Lewisburg, TN at 2:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 4:30PM to 8:30PM at the funeral home. Mr. Parr passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Parr was born September 19, 1947 in Lewisburg, Tennessee, the son of the late E.O. and Elizabeth Bayly Parr. Mr. Parr was employed with M-Tek for over 20 years. He was founder of the Mountain Valley Bluegrass Band which traveled and played throughout Tennessee. He was a member of Highland Lodge #214 where he served as Past Master as well as serving as Past Master of the Hillsboro Lodge #382. He was a member of Al Menah Shriners and served as the Coffee County Ambassador for Shrine. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason-KCCH, Past President of Coffee County Scottish Right Club and a Member of Stone Fort Chapter #62 York Rite, Member of Tullahoma Council # 102, member of Manchester Commandry # 40 and member of Chapter # 339 O.E.S. where he served as Past Patron and Charter Member of Coffee County DeMolay, where he served as a Chapter Dad. Mr. Parr was an avid golfer and received a “Hole in One” plaque for his game at AEDC Golf Course. He dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren and was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Parr was also a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Brownie Haislip; and brother-in-law, David Haislip and his beloved Eskimo Spitz, Sugar Bear, who passed April 27, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Parr of Hillsboro; two daughters, Cindy (Bill) Harrison and Julie (Keith) Lincoln; six grandchildren, Jacqueline, Alexandria, and Jonathan Lincoln, Jillian and Levi Melton, and Katrina Harrison; father-in-law, Bud Haislip; sister-in-law, Mary Haislip; and a half-brother, Dennis Parr.Online condolences may be made at www.coffeecountyfuneralchapel.com
