Manchester - Funeral services for Ricky Dale “Shorty” Alford, age 54 of Manchester will be conducted Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Gnat Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Alford passed away Monday, October 03, 2011 at his residence after a brief battle with cancer. He was born September 18, 1957 in Coffee County the son of the late John E. Alford and Pauline Melton Alford. He was employed with Alford Trucking as a truck driver as well as a skilled mechanic. Shorty had a passion for riding motor cycles with friends as well as mud bogging and karoke. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Richard Dale Alford.
Survivors include two children, daughter, April Joy Alford Crandell and husband, Shannon of Manchester and son, Winford Evans Alford of Manchester; three grandchildren, Brent, Victoria and Kendra Wix; brothers and sister, Paul Alford, Dwight (Belinda) Alford, Terry (Debbie) Alford, Kathy (Lee) Armstrong all of Manchester.
