Monteagle - Funeral services for Mr. John V. DeCanio, age 89, of Monteagle, TN will be conducted Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bro. Virgil Alford officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10 AM at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Mr. DeCanio died, Sunday, December 25, 2011 at The Bridge of Monteagle.
Mr. DeCanio, a native of Freedom, PA was the son of the late Frank J. DeCanio and the late Rose Ann Totera DeCanio Angeline. He was a WW II Army veteran and had worked as an inspector for the Railroad for many years. He was a long time member of the American Legion and enjoyed gardening and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Sepella DeCanio; Step-father, Domenic Angeline; three brothers, Frank and Nick DeCanio and Eddie Angeline; four sisters, Mary Shaffer, Stella Puppich, Genevieve Sepella, and Theresa Angeline.
Mr. DeCanio is survived by one son, Christopher J. DeCanio and his wife Natasha of Lisbon, Ohio; two daughters, Nadine Whitt and her husband Paul of Manchester, and Cathy Kerns and her husband Michael of Irving, Texas; five granddaughters, Nicole Kerns and her partner Pete Harris, Stephanie Kerns, Dana Whitt, Paula Page and her husband Steven and Gina Russo and her husband Troy; one grandson, Derek Kerns and his wife Kelley; and 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, #102, Chattanooga, TN., 37421-1972
