Manchester - Funeral services for Jesse Daniel Duke, 92, a longtime resident of the Gnat Hill community, will be conducted Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Rick Duggin and Brother Gary Patton officiating. Burial will follow at Gnat Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.Mr. Duke passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 7, 1916 in Coffee County the son of the late Jim Daniel Duke and Margaret Stacey Duke. Mr. Duke was an active dairy farmer of the Gnat Hill community until the age of 91. He was a member of Unity Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Irene Duke, who passed away in 2000 and his daughter, Juanita Moore, an infant son and two sisters, Ola Duke, Eula Lewis and brothers, Willie, Elvin and Horace Duke. Survivors include a daughter, Dolas (Randall) Markum of Murfreesboro, four sons, Paul (Peggy) Duke of Pocohontas community, Kenneth (June) Duke of Beech Grove, Eddie (Rita) Duke of Beech Grove and Bobby Duke of Pikeville, 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, a sister, Nora (Howard) Trail of Manchester and his step-mother-in-law, Earlene Ferrell also of Manchester.
