Cates, Mr. Benjamin "Ben" -

Manchester - Funeral services for Benjamin €œBen€? Cates, age 60, will be conducted Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 2:00 PM from Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Marvin Davenport and Dennis Ham officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The Cates family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Cates passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. He was born August 4, 1948 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama the son of Jewell Cates of Tullahoma and the late Benjamin Roy Cates. He was a self-employed painter and enjoyed working endless hours in his yard having been awarded the €œCoffee County Beautification Award€? earlier this summer. He was a member of the Forest Mill Baptist Church.In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Bennie Cates.In addition to his mother, Jewell Cates,survivors include his loving wife, Charlotte Cates of Manchester; daughter and son-in-law, Tamera and Tim York of Wartrace; and son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Amy Cates of Petersburg, TN; step-daughter, Regina Simmons of Manchester and six grandchildren, Trestin and Madison York, Andrew and Kaitlyn Cates and Chance and J.C. Simmons; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donny and Mary Cates of Normandy and Gary and Cindy Cates of Tullahoma; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Wayne Reed of Bell Buckle, Gail and Ronny Hasty of Estill Springs, Airi and Charlie Creson of Lynchburg and Becky and Richard €œMouchie€? Reed of Manchester and numerous nieces and nephews.The family requests memorial contributions be made to Forest Mill Baptist Church of Manchester or to the American Cancer Society.Coffee County Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
